Wednesdays are often called hump days, associated with a lack of motivation, creativity and ambition. Now, we can’t have that, can we? There are only two more days to the weekend and only two more days to accomplish everything you want to in the week. I often want a boost of energy in the middle of the week, and dressing right does that for me.
For the longest time, I have worn red on Wednesdays, a color associated with aggressiveness, passion, love, energy, power and determination (let us, for the moment, ignore the negative associations like war, anger, etc. 😝) What woman would not feel instantly glamorous and powerful in a dress like this?
This was the dress I wore to Kampong Khleang, a floating village about 50 km from Siem Reap. As alien as the concept would be to us land dwellers, Cambodian people live on the Tonlé Sap Lake in stilt houses. They live on the lake because fishing is their main food source, and the stilts make sure the houses are above the annual flood levels.
Why don’t you try this yourself? Wear red next Wednesday, and see how you feel. Pair it with heels for the night, or with shoes like me if you hate tottering on heels. I pulled my hair back in a ponytail with a very mild pouf and paired this with elegant golden earrings. I chose an orange-red lipstick and kept the rest of my face simple with only a little eyeliner and mascara. You could even completely skip the liner and only use the mascara and some brown eye-shadow for a simpler look.
Makeup: Eyeliner from Lakme, Mascara from L’Oréal, Lipstick from Colorbar
Shoes, Watch & Handbag: Same as my previous post.
PS: Lot of women choose to go with nude lip colors when wearing red outfits, but if you really want to pack a punch, go for a red lippie. Red lips instantly up the quotient of anything you are wearing, and paired with a red dress, you will be a knock-out. Just keep the rest of your face simple. Try it next time. 😊
